Here Dead We Lie

On Thursday, November 21 1963, there was a program on, the Korean War, narrated by Richard Boone. In it he recited the Houseman poem:

Here dead we lie
Because we did not choose
To live and shame the land
From which we sprung.

Life, to be sure,
Is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

It stuck in my mind. Simple, powerful, and unHousman like.
The next day, Friday, November 22 1963, President Kennedy
went to Dallas.
