I would like to take this occasion to commemorate my remarkable although still defunct good friend and erstwhile writing partner Chester (CVJ) Anderson; poet, novelist, musician, beatnick, iconoclast and deconstructionist. His modern spiritual, "I spent the Night in a Motel With Jesus," has a wonderful and deeply moving first verse. The second verse, he insisted, was even better, but he never would sing it aloud.
